Emily Irene VanCamp was originally keen on becoming a professional dancer but after a visit to Katie's set for the show Ladies Room, she became more interested in acting. She started taking acting classes and simultaneously landed appearances on television shows in her native Canada. She was on, among other shows, in the series Are You Scared of the Dark? Radio Active. VanCamp had a big breakthrough in his career after being cast on Glory Days, the WB mystery horror show. Even although the show had received excellent reviews, it had to be pulled after only nine episode due to its poor ratings. Despite her May 12th 1986 birthday her actress was offered an appearance on Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. This role brought her nominations for the Young Artist Award and four Teen Choice Awards.
